Improving Cleaning Performance of Rice Combine Harvesters by DEM–CFD Coupling Technology

The cleaning device is an important part of combine harvesters, as its superior or inferior performance directly affects the harvester greatly. With increasing rice yield, current single-duct declines greatly, and causes a large grain sieve loss level direct for farms. To optimize existing to meet feeding rate requirement, firstly, terminal velocity MOG (material other than grain) different varieties was experimentally measured by custom-made device. effects moisture content grains length short straws on were studied in detail. Then, gas–solid two-phase flow theory comprehensively applied utilizing discrete element method (DEM) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study working mechanism unit, evaluated from view motion law threshing output within shoe. At last, multi-duct put forward, field experiment performed assess newly developed results showed that losses ratio impurity improved dramatically, proving structure optimization feasible.
